Sterling J. Bowers

Founding Attorney

Sterling was born and raised in Curry County. He knows the country, the people, and the culture. He came to the law after a working life—ranching, rodeoing, construction, the music business, pulling cactus, and other jobs that leave your hands calloused. That’s why a dryland farmer, a railroad worker, and a schoolteacher receive the same attention in this office.

At the University of Wyoming College of Law he won multiple trial competitions, received the Terry S. Mackey Scholarship, and externed for U.S. District Judge Kelly H. Rankin and Justice Kari Jo Gray of the Wyoming Supreme Court. After graduation he practiced personal injury and civil rights law at the Spence Law Firm in Jackson, Wyoming. He came home to the Llano Estacado as an Assistant District Attorney and tried felony and misdemeanor cases to verdict with an undefeated trial record. He then returned to private practice as a partner, opened and ran a Clovis office for a Lubbock firm, and carried a full docket of family law, criminal defense, civil litigation, estate planning, and probate.

Sterling brings grit, tenacity, and compassion to every case. He doesn’t promise a result he cannot deliver. He shoots clients straight about the fight ahead and aims to exceed that forecast through hard work.

When Sterling isn’t working, he’s probably somewhere horseback, skiing, playing music, spearfishing, or laughing with friends and family.

Amy Bowers

Head of Operations

Amy runs the office: the phone, the calendar, the incoming file, and the work that has to be done before anyone walks into court. If you call this firm, you are likely talking to her. If you need a time to come in, she is the one who makes it happen.

She earned a Bachelor of Journalism in advertising and public relations, with a minor in marketing, from the University of Nebraska. She is a licensed radiologic technologist and worked in x-ray and MRI until 2025, which is precise work with people who are already under strain. She also served as Deputy Treasurer of Parmer County, Texas. Amy is a Jill of all trades.

She is compassionate, professional, and hard on the details. Operations here means the short line from your call to Sterling, and a call back that actually comes.
